Medium-wavelength infrared (MWIR) hybrid HgCdTe focal-plane arrays (FPAs) capable of 128 x 128 images at a 60-Hz rate have been tested for strategic and tactical applications. A field portable sensor using one of these producible arrays has been developed for FPA evaluation and data collection. This sensor has been used for MWIR image data collection of ground and airborne tactical targets. The data collected were used to validate the staring infrared seeker models being developed. An objective of this project was to confirm the results of the analysis while promoting the utility of MWIR FPAs for tactical seekers. The system exhibited high reliability and demonstrated high-quality imagery of tactical targets.
