Sunspot Groups: Evolution, Sunspot Groups: Distribution
Scientific paper
The authors use the data of sunspot groups at high latitude (≥35°) during solar cycles 21 and 22 to show their evolutional behavior and to investigate their features of spatial distribution. It has been found that one kind of weak dominance of the solar activity seems to exist in the south hemisphere during solar cycle 21, but this result is of statistical insignificance. An overall southern bias apparently prevailed in the south hemisphere during solar cycle 22. The total number of sunspot groups at latitude ≥40° during the rising time of a solar cycle can be used to predict the dominance of the solar activity in one solar hemisphere.
