We present results of spectral principle component analysis (SPCA) on a sample of SDSS quasars. We analyze correlations in intensity among Fe II lines, both rest-frame optical and ultraviolet, in samples binned by linewidth to avoid nonlinearities in the SPCA. We use these correlations to quantify the importance of Lyman alpha fluorescence in the broad line region (BLR) and relate this to the classic problem of understanding the physical causes of the eigenvector 1 relationships. This will elucidate the physical processes at work in the BLR and thus provide understanding of central engines in active galactic nuclei as a whole.
