A cross correlation of the AL, AU, and AE indices with the Bz component of the interplanetary magnetic field and the epsilon parameter is carried out on the basis of 4-min data individually for three substorm phases. The existence of fast and slow responses of auroral electrojets to IMF variations is observed. It is suggested that these responses correspond to different substorm components: with and without energy accumulation in the magnetotail.
