We present preliminary FUSE observations of high velocity (V = 65 km/s) interstellar gas seen in absorption towards HD 47420, a star lying at a distance of 1800pc in the direction of the Monoceros Loop SNR. This high velocity component is predominantly neutral and is associated with the receding shell of the SNR. Observations of the high ionization lines of OVI reveal an absorption component at V = -28 km/s which can be associated with the nearside, more ionized approaching shell of the SNR. Using supplemental IUE and ground based visible absorption data towards HD 47420, we comment on the chemical nature of this disturbed interstellar gas.
