We present high resolution WIYN 3.5m images of starburst galaxies to study their optical structures from the central starburst to faint outer features. We find a variation of inner galaxy morphologies for the starburst galaxies among our sample which includes: NGC 3310, NGC 7585, NGC 7673, NGC 7678, and A+0838. Comparing face-on starburst disks with edge-on ones reveals that these extended structures, including shells and ripples, most likely lie near the plane of the starburst disk, as opposed to being spherically distributed. We further discuss the role of interactions and mergers which are involved in creating these shells, and the corresponding morphologies of the inner galaxy where the starburst is occurring. Comparisons to Markarian 8 and NGC 3991, edge-on starburst disks, enable us to hypothesize how these outer structures might have formed.
