A faint object spectrograph for use in conjunction with the Large Space Telescope (LST) and based on the Wadsworth configuration is described. The nominal resolution is 1000, with provision for variation of one order of magnitude in either direction. The spectrum is recorded on one of three ICCD detectors operating in a photon counting mode. An image slicer may be used to extend the limited format of the detector. The device is capable of operation in a variety of resolution and spectral range modes.
