The geological history of Mars and its Cydonia region is reviewed, and
the origin of the 'face', the 'fort', and the 'pyramids' seen in the
region is discussed. The possibility that the appearance of the
structures has been affected by image processing is addressed. It is
concluded that the structures are very probably natural.
