High spectral resolution scans of S216 in H-alpha, forbidden N II 6583, forbidden S II 6716, forbidden O III 5007, and H-beta were obtained with the University of Wisconsin large-aperture Fabry-Perot spectrometer. These observations indicate a mean nebular expansion velocity not exceeding 4 km/s and a gas temperature of 9400 + or - 1100 K. The available data suggest that S216 is an extremely old (not less than 300,000 yr) planetary nebula with an unsually low-expansion velocity. This interpretation predicts that S216 has a distance of up to 80 pc, a radius of up to 1.1 pc, and a 'central' star with a visual magnitude of up to + 12 that is just entering the white dwarf region of the H-R diagram. The star is probably no longer centrally located because of the deceleration of the nebula by the interstellar medium.
