Spectrophotometric measurements of a slit section across the 30 Dor nebula in the LMC are used to derive the absolute magnitude and the spatial variation of the extinction toward the nebula. Several combinations of Paschen-Balmer lines are used, in particular the corresponding multiplet lines P(gamma)-H(delta) and P(delta)-H(epsilon), which originate from the same upper atomic level.
