Measurements February 1977-May 1978 of the microwave background temperature in the vicinity of the cluster Abell 2218 are interpreted. The new observations in several different directions confirm the earlier finding of a small cooling towards the cluster center. The data are consistent with an extended adiabatic atmosphere with polytropic index equal to 5/3 and a cluster filling factor equal to -0.15; according to this model, the source is convolved to the beam and parameterized by a constant temperature decrement.
