The proposal that the universe is dominated by light neutrinos has a well-known problem: if the galaxies form only in the pancake planes, their distribution is too strongly clustered when compared with observation. Whether explosions in the pancakes can alleviate this problem, either by forming galaxies outside the pancakes, or by partially suppressing galaxy formation within the pancakes, is presently investigated; it is concluded that neither mechanism can save the neutrino model without producing excessive X-ray emission.
