This program proposes multi-frequency radio continuum observations of three nearby, metal-poor, star-forming dwarf galaxies. These three systems have been extensively studied with the Spitzer Infrared Spectrograph in order to perform a spatially resolved analysis of the variations of mid-infrared PAH emission strength as functions of both metallicity and local conditions (Haynes, Cannon et al. 2010). In that work we have discovered that the relative strengths of individual PAH emission features are surprisingly constant within a given galaxy. However, the local conditions in which the PAH carriers are stimulated into emission vary wildly, from quiescent, low-density regions to vigorous starburst sites. Given this remarkable result, the present program seeks to extend our analysis to the radio continuum, with the goal of identifying possible correlations of PAH emission strength with radio continuum properties. Specifically, are the strengths of PAH and radio continuum emission correlated within individual metal-poor galaxies? In addition, the proposed observations will allow us to study the local and global properties of the radio continuum in each galaxy, and to study regions of potentially embedded star formation.
