One of the most interesting questions about short orbital period exoplanets concerns how they absorb, thermalise and redistribute energy in their atmospheres. One powerful tool for addressing such questions is to monitor the systems for time-dependent behaviour, essentially extrasolar weather, by means of phase curves or repeated measurements of secondary transits.
I will examine current and anticipated observations of the temporal behaviour of known extrasolar planets and what we might hope to learn from them.
