POLARBEAR is a ground-based experiment built to study polarization of the cosmic microwave background, using an array of 1274 antenna-coupled superconducting transition edge sensor (TES) bolometers mounted on the Huan Tran Telescope (HTT). POLARBEAR has 3.8-arcminute beam resolution at 150 GHz, allowing for measurements of a gravitational lensing signal at small angular scales, and simultaneously enabling the search for evidence of gravitational waves due to inflation at large angular scales. POLARBEAR has been designed to have exceptionally low systematics and high sensitivity, and is projected to reach a tensor-to-scalar ratio of 0.025 after two years of observation. After a successful engineering run in the Inyo Mountains of California in 2010, POLARBEAR is now sited at the Atacama Desert in Chile, where observations will begin in late 2011. I will report on the current status of the POLARBEAR experiment, and discuss plans for the 2012 observing season. The POLARBEAR experiment is funded by the National Science Foundation under grant AST-0618398.
