The authors have investigated two types of electronic imaging device in making astronomical observations and in enhancing deep-sky photographs. Software has been written to interface these devices to a microcomputer, so that the images may be integrated for a present time from 1/40 second to 20 seconds, and then stored on floppy disk. Images recorded on disk can subsequently be loaded back into the microcomputer where they undergo processing to enhance certain features while suppressing others.
