Four-year-long experiments in CO2 + (H2O or H2O + H2O2) atmospheres show
that oxidative weathering of pyrrhotite and primary silicate (olivine,
pyroxene) mixtures reproduces the mineralogical assemblages observed in
the Meridiani Planum deposits.
