The Department of Astronomy at the University of Maryland operates a small observatory on campus. This facility is used almost exclusively for education and outreach activities. As is the case with many such university facilities, we are challenged by high light levels and frequently uncooperative weather. Historically, the facility has been used for several undergraduate classes and an on-going open house program for the public. In recent years, we have attempted to expand our observatory programs to provide more opportunities to university students, local schools, amateur astronomers, and the general public. Here we highlight several programs which are working to strengthen the Observatory's ties to our community.
