The authors have observed 2A 0335+096 for 10h with EXOSAT. The LE image shows an irregular structure, and the X-ray emission is not centered on the dominant galaxy. Optical emission lines are seen from a large region, and they indicate normal composition, whereas the ME spectrum suggests a very low metal content, implying that the ionized gas seen optically is not a product of the cooling flow inferred from previous X-ray observations.
