The vertical currents recorded by ISIS-2 satellite above the polar cap are compared with their calculated field aligned values. The analysis indicates that the structure of the vertical currents is quite complex. The currents appear to be distributed at various intensities above the entire high-latitude region, their intensity at each point (as a function of latitude and local time) being governed by the solar-wind and interplanetary-magnetic-field parameters.
