In this paper, we give a proof of the existence of stationary dark soliton
solutions or heteroclinic orbits of nonlinear equations of Schr\"odinger type
with periodic inhomogeneous nonlinearity. The result is illustrated with
examples of dark solitons for cubic and photorefractive nonlinearities.
