High-spin states in ^108Cd were populated in the reaction ^64Ni(^48Ca,4n) at a beam energy of 207 MeV. Gamma--ray spectroscopy was performed with the Gammasphere spectrometer. An excited rotational band has been observed in addition to the previously reported band that was shown to have a very extended shape with an axis ratio of c/a > 1.8. The two bands have very similar moments of inertia and the quadrupole moments of the excited band, measured using the method of residual fractional Doppler shifts, has a value of Q0 = 8.5 eb, which corresponds to an axis ratio of c/a = 1.72. No upper limit for the quadrupole moments can be given on the basis of the data, so that a larger than superdeformed (c/a = 2) deformation, which was theoretically predicted, cannot be excluded.
