An analysis is made of short-duration Pc1-2 and PDP pulsations observed during substorms. It is shown that Pc1-2 pulsations are excited at the microsubstorm commencement, and that there may occur a transition of these pulsations into PDPs in a region with a longitudinal extent of delta lambda not greater than 30 deg. The transition of Pc1-2s into PDPs corresponds to a moment of sharp activation of auroral and magnetic microsubstorms and is observed in microsubstorms in which the region of localization encompasses the evening sector. It is assumed that the PDP generation is due to proton penetration into the magnetosphere.
