The paper examines the mechanism of the excitation of magnetic disturbances in the ionosphere and magnetosphere under the effect of an acoustic wave connected with a Rayleigh seismic wave. The case of Rayleigh-wave propagation along a magnetic meridian plane is considered. It is shown that short-period (T of about 1 min) acoustic waves generate in the ionosphere two groups of magnetic disturbances, one of which is concentrated in the vicinity of the Hall layer, while the other passes into the magnetosphere.
