Consideration is given to spatially homogeneous cosmological space-times derived from originally local stationary axisymmetric metrics. An explicit family of spatially homogeneous metrics obtained by a complex transformation is presented in which cosmological matter is modeled by a perfect fluid, and its kinematic, symmetry and physical properties are examined. The form of the metric is then generalized by the inclusion of arbitrary functions in place of specific terms, and it is shown that the generalized metric contains four distinct classes of spatially homogeneous solutions, with the ratio of the shear to the expansion scalar generally not constant. A large subclass of solutions in which this ratio is constant is then examined, and it is pointed out that the specification of the subclass is sufficiently broad to allow for the existence of solutions for all Bianchi-Behr types except IV and VIIh.
