Interaction with binary companion has profound effects on a neutron star. Magnetic interaction with the companion's stellar wind and accretion flow causes major changes in the spin rate, accretion on the star causes heating, changes crustal composition and reduces the magnetic field strength. This article reviews the various physical processes in the neutron star that accompany such changes.
