A set of evolutionary population synthesis models which are used to study the properties of the star formation episodes taking place in starburst regions are presented. The compilation of stellar parameters used are described and the way of evaluating the different observational parameters and their interest is discussed. The evolution with time of predicted parameters and their dependence on the star formation scanario is shown and their sensitivity to variations in the interplanetary magnetic field, star formation rate and metallicity is discussed.
