We analyze the accretion of phantom energy by primordial black holes along with radiation accretion and Hawking evaporation to determine their course of evolution throughout the history of the universe. We find a well-defined transition in accretion regimes during the matter-dominated era and investigate the competition between Hawking evaporation and phantom energy accretion as two processes that decrease the black hole mass. The final stages of black hole evaporation are greatly affected by these effects, and suggest a detailed thermodynamical analysis of the phantom fluid itself.
