Secular perturbations for 15 different meteor orbits are investigated over time intervals of 10,000-100,000 years, to obtain a qualitative picture of the evolution of the orbits. The Gauss-Halphen-Goryachev method is used, taking into account the perturbations of Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune. The occurrence of N, S (or N, Q, S) branches in a stream is found possible due to the determining role of Jupiter and the character of perturbations from it when the direction of the line of apsides maintains relative stability. It is concluded that the age of meteor streams containing branches should not be less than 3000-4000 years.
