Results of a computational study of the evolution of magnetic fields with mixed polarity, under the action of steady, large-scale circulations are presented here. Several cases are considered by varying the strengths of the dipole and quadrupole moments of the initial field. Models of A-type, main-sequence stars with meridional circulations driven by uniform rotation are used in the computations. Different angular velocities are considered that lead to different circulation speeds and, therefore, to different magnetic reynolds numbers. These results confirm a previous result (Maheswaran, 1989, BAAS, 21(2), 745) that a quasi-steady state is reached on a time-scale that depends on the circulation time-scale and the magnetic reynolds number. Some details of the structure and strength of t he evolving fields corresponding to different configurations of initial field and different rotation rates are presented. This work was supported in part by a UW Centers Summer Research Grant 1992 and a UWMC Foundation Summer Research Grant 1993.
