In this paper we present some preliminary results of recent N-body + SPH simulations of a minor interaction between an initially barred galaxy and a spherical companion. In the models described here the small companion passes through the disk of the larger galaxy perpendicular to its plane and leading the bar. The interaction produces an expanding ring structure, offset bar, spokes, and other asymmetries in the stars and gas. We also describe how the evolution of the bar strength, pattern speed, and gas inflow rate are affected.
