We propose simultaneous HCN and HCO+ observations towards 30 massive young stellar objects in the LMC. Using Spitzer data, we have a large and unique dataset of massive protostars in the LMC covering several stages of massive protostellar evolution. With ATCA data, we can address the two large questions "Where is the dense molecular gas?" and "What is the relationship between molecular cloud and YSO properties?" With the details of the compact molecular gas, i.e., the morphology, spatial distribution, masses, and velocity, we will be able to place the massive protostar into the context of its environment and better understand the star formation process. Many of the problems of studying massive star formation in the Galaxy are mitigated in the LMC because of its known distance (50 kpc), nearly face-on orientation, low foreground extinctions, and high level of star formation activity. We propose to image HCN and HCO+ around sources with a large variation in evolutionary stage and environment including the youngest, most embedded sources to more advanced sources with compact HII regions.
