Our continuous interest in H2O profiling and total content determination within the frame of ERS1 and TOPEX-Poseïdon experiments has led us to bring some modifications to the ``3I'' (Improved Initialization Inversion) method. Results obtained are presented and an evaluation is realized through a comparative study against 3 other sources of data, showing improvements : 1-radiosondes; 2- ground based microwave radiometer measurements; 3- ECMWF (European Center for Medium Range Weather Forecast) analyses. For this, we have at our disposal a large set of data : 16 satellite passes over Europe and North Atlantic, time series of microwave radiometer measurements for 3 periods on June and July 88 and radiosondes from six stations.
This study is carried out in cooperation with Onsala Space Observatory (Sweden) and financially supported by ESA (European Space Agency).
