Scientific paper

The paper evaluates the accuracy of the long range prediction of the monthly median values of the critical frequencies of the F-2 region for a given level of solar activity. The analysis was carried out by comparing predicted critical frequencies with those measured by a global network of stations for the vertical sounding of the ionosphere. The mean deviations of the observed values from the predicted values do not exceed 0.5 MHz, while the mean-square deviations are about 1.0 MHz. No relation between these deviations and level of solar activity, season, latitude, or local time was revealed.
