MOSFIRE is a multi-object infrared imager and spectrometer for the Keck I Telescope. The detector is a 2K x 2K Hawaii-2RG HgCdTe array from Teledyne Imaging Sensors, with a 2.5μm cut-off wavelength and an operational temperature of 77K. We report first results from tests of the MOSFIRE detector system using the SIDECAR ASIC instead of a standard controller. Evaluation of detector noise and dark current using the ASIC shows excellent agreement with performance recorded by a low-noise controller. Fowler sampling and other methods have also been demonstrated. The detector is installed in a focus mechanism that is currently under test. MOSFIRE is scheduled for delivery to the Keck Observatory in early 2010.
