The modification of the Rydberg-Klein-Rees method introduced by van der Slice et al. (1960) is used to construct the potential energy curves for the X 2Sigma(+) and B 2Sigma(+) states of CO(+). The method of curve fitting using the five parameter Hulburt-Hirschfelder's function produces an estimated dissociation energy of 7.70 + or - 0.19 eV. This results is compared with the results of other studies, suggesting that the accurate value of the dissociation energy for CO(+) is 8.33 eV.
