Values for the deceleration parameter q0 for several quasars are calculated using Mattig's (1958) formula, followed by regression analysis to give the best value of q0 with a 95% confidence range, in order to obtain more exact values than found in previous studies. Results show that q0 is larger than 0.5 in all cases, suggesting that the universe is probably closed. The reexamined values of q0 for radio selected quasars range from 1 to 3.5, while optically variable quasars have a q0 of 7.9, which is probably due to the effect of luminosity.
