A novel approach to the determination of the composition of Comet Halley's dust component that considers dust particle mass is presented. Dust particle mass is estimated by using signals measured at the moment of a dust particle's impact on a target. It is shown that using weighting factors places mean ionic abundances close to solar abundances. Mean ionic abundances of the main rock-forming elements of particles of different mass and different composition are also considered.
