A method is suggested for the assessment of the turbulent optical factor
as related to the 30 - 700 m layer by using the sodar facsimile
recordings. The calibration of this method was based on a comparison of
visual estimates with those obtained from digital registrations of the
sodar echo signals in 1983 - 1984.
