Nuclear magnitudes of Seyfert galaxies, determined from two-dimensional photometric data, are used to make an estimate of the luminosity function (LF) of Seyfert nuclei. This provides a direct observational check of two indirect determinations of this LF, one of which is favoured by the present result. Comparisons with the Seyfert LF for integrated magnitudes, the local quasar LF, and the LF of field galaxies, are discussed.
