Using daily averaged solar spectra from the SOLSTICE UV spectrometer on board the UARS satellite, we calculate the correlation between various spectral bands in the 120 to 400 nm range. We find a diminishing level of correlation between Lyman alpha and the continua for increasing wavelength. However, for spectra bands with wavelengths in excess of 250 nm, the correlation among the bands is large and positive, but the correlation with shorter wavelength bands is small and negative. By comparing the UV observations with the total flux observations from the ACRIM 1 radiometer, we deduce the solar variability in the visible-IR region.
