New wide-field UBVI photometric observations are used in concert with astrometric (proper motions) and kinematic studies (radial velocities) to establish the solar-type star membership of the interesting Galactic open cluster Blanco 1 (Zeta Sculptoris).
Membership criteria are applied to distinguish between single and binary stars to allow us to correctly interpret a follow-up study of lithium abundance and X-ray activity.
These Blanco 1 datasets are to be used in comparison to the well studied Alpha Persei, Pleiades and NGC 2516 clusters in order to study early-main sequence stellar evolution.
