The error of spherical harmonic analysis models is evaluated as a function of errors in the input data, the overdeterminedness of the system of conditional equations in the least squares method, and the nonuniformity of the spatial distribution of the initial measurements. Model errors and initial-measurement errors are correlated quantitatively in the case of a homogeneous spatial distribution. A way to reduce model errors is suggested.
