An error analysis of lightcurve periods and Fourier coefficients is developed using the statisical inversion theory. Theoretical predictions are tested with synthetic lightcurves, whose properties are known. The accuracy is studied particularly in the case when the data is limited to a short interval of time. Accurate periods are essential for further Fourier analyses of lightcurves and pole and shape determination.
