In the Letter ``The Reaction of Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbon Cations with Hydrogen Atoms: The Astrophysical Implications'' by C. W. Bauschlicher, Jr. (ApJ, 509, L125 [1998]), there is an error in the discussion of the isotopic effects for the reaction C_10H_8D^+ + H. It is stated that the removal of a hydrogen atom from C_10H_8D^+, reaction 3 in Table 1, has a lower barrier than the removal of the deuterium atom, reaction 2. An inspection of Table 1 shows that both reactions have barriers below the energy of the asymptote but that the barrier for reaction 2 is further below the reactants than is the barrier for reaction 3. It is not possible to draw any definitive conclusions about deuterium enrichment occurring by this hydrogen abstraction reaction without a more detailed study. The discussion of deuterium enrichment by C-H versus C-D bond breaking is unchanged, as are the other conclusions of the manuscript.
