In 1996, EROS 2 started a proper motion program to look for nearby halo white and brown dwarfs. 320 square degrees have been surveyed with a one year baseline. No white dwarf has been found in the first 130 square degrees, but one very cold L-class object has been detected. Its transverse velocity of 80 km/s indicates an old population. Current detection expectations are a dozen MV=17 white dwarfs for a full halo. By January the whole area will be reduced, using a third epoch for half of the fields, with an increase of the searched volume leading to discovery of halo white dwarfs or to a better contraint on the halo composition. Other disk faint objects will be detected as well.
