Employing a model of massive bodies as made up of an equilibrium assembly of particles interacting with each other via both gravitational and nongravitational forces, the gravitational-to-inertial-mass ratio (MgMi) is calculated for the massive body. An expression for MgMi is obtained which is in agreement with a previously derived expression valid for pure gravitational systems. Also it is found that a body supported at rest on a massive body (e.g., a laboratory on Earth) is accelerated by an external body (e.g., the Sun) at the same rate as the the massive body (e.g., the Earth) in general relativity but not in other gravitational theories such as the scalar-tensor gravitational theories.
