The morphology of untwisted magnetic flux loops in equilibrium with an ambient plasma and loop-aligned magnetic field is analyzed using magnetohydrodynamics (MHD). The temperature inside the loop is assumed to be uniform, but is permitted to be different from the uniform ambient temperature. Two classes of loops are shown to exist: (1) those with legs descending monotonically in the direction of the gravity, and (2) those which are spatially periodic. The latter form a distinct class of solutions that exist only for unequal loop and ambient temperatures. Physical implications are discussed in connection with possible solar loops.
