Scientific paper

A set of equations which are magnetohydrodynamic equilibrium conditions
in the case of axial symmetry is solved. The possibility of splitting
Maclaurin's sequence in the presence of a magnetic field is
demonstrated. The effect of a force-free magnetic field on Maclaurin's
P-ellipsoid is investigated.
