Simplified complete and ensemble-averaged equations of the thermohydrodynamics of a compressible and radiating gas intended for the description of turbulent convection in stars is presented. The energy equation is simplified assuming that the relative pulsations of the thermodynamic variables are small. It is shown that the condition that the time and spatial scales of the turbulent pulsations are small compared with the time and spatial scales of the convecting medium with respect to the temperature and pressure is necessary for this approximation.
